Chronic Lyme Disease

Chronic Lyme disease is what is referred to Lyme disease when it’s been untreated quickly. Even when Lyme disease has been treated quickly with antibiotics it can still become Chronic Lyme disease, since antibiotics are not a SURE way of getting rid of Lyme disease.

Chronic Lyme disease manifest itself in each person differently. There are symptoms that most Chronic Lyme disease patients suffer such as: fatigue, vertigo, migraines, stiffness of joints, sleep disturbance, neurological symptoms.

Chronic Lyme can leave some people completely debilitated as the bacteria can duplicate itself and invade entire organ systems.

Some doctors think that Chronic Lyme is due to co-infections with other tick infections like Ehrlichia and Babesia (other forms of bacteria).

There is much debate on how to treat Chronic Lyme disease. Unfortunately, there are many different view points from doctors who say you can’t get Lyme in certain geographic regions to ones who say it’s the next BIG epidemic.

Some doctors, most conventional ones, believe treating Chronic Lyme disease with antibiotics either orally or through IV.

Antibiotic treatment for Chronic Lyme disease is not always the best route because long term antibiotic treatment can be more debilitating then the Chronic Lyme disease itself.

Most people with Chronic Lyme disease are already in a weakened immune state. Lyme is a disease of opportunity. When people develop Chronic Lyme, they usually have multiple system failures. These individual systems should be treated as well and most conventional doctors don’t treat patients this way.

Chronic lyme disease can be resistance to antibiotics as well.

I will not dissuade anyone from trying the long term antibiotic route, but I must say that I would of never gotten over my own Chronic Lyme disease nightmare if I continued to get conventional treatment.
